Multimedia-Based and Interactive Content

Multimedia-based and Interactive content should be standard in today’s technology-enabled courses. It should  enable active learning. In this project, we identified a crucial content: Many Adult Education organisations are small and don’t have the human resources to create the expected content. Additionally, many course creators neither have the necessary knowledge to create multimedia content nor do they own the tools for the creating.

We want to start a serial of postings focusing on free-to-use tools that can be used to create multimedia-based and interactive content that can be used easily in either with the learning platform Moodle as well as in other environments.

The first tools are Animaker (Animated Video), PowToon (Animated Video), eXe Learning (Tool to create complete courses or course modules), Canva (Graphic tool for graphics, presentations, and videos), and  H5P (Creating reusable interactive and multimedia-based content).

We will present specific examples (to give an impact to course developers) and invite the audience for discussion and comments.

As an example we present an example from a course about digital photography. This small tool demonstrated the exposure of an image. Imaged might be underexposed (too dark), “normal” or overexposed (too light). Whith this tool, you can experiment and simulate the various exposure options with an image.

The tool has been produced using H5P in a WordPress environment (available as a plug-in)

H5P is available from the organisations webpage h5p.org

  1. This looks like a great concept especially if the tasks incorporate human interaction Hospitality/Retail Customer engagement situations as just one sector and any customer counter interactions
